Implementing a new distribution and transportation process. Phase 1 : Investigation and analysis Technische Unie requested intelligence for business tot analyse the quality and efficiency of the current overnight transportation processes for the in-night service delivery. Key question was if the delivered service was valued and priced in the right way. The activities were:

  • Gathering and analysis of available data
  • Discuss available analysis results (old and new) and define a clear transportation strategy
  • Guide the description of requirements for a request for proposal for logistics service providers to deliver this service to the technische unie.

Within 2 months, intelligence for business has presented a final analysis report recommending a way forward based on the market knowledge, interview results and discussed analysis. The board of management has discussed the recommendations and agreed to implement them.

Phase 2 :Strategy implementation
Technische Unie requested intelligence for business to support the management team to ensure the imoplementation of the new transportation strategy.

Implemented recommendations:

  • Optimising the returns flow by implementing the defined redesign.
  • Selecting a service provider for transportation services using RFP/RFQ’s and benchmarking the candidates.
  • Describing the service level agreement and contractual arrangements with the chosen supplier
  • Description of the transportation strategy
  • Optimisation of the used modes of transport in the new strategy.

Most activities are executed by the Technische Unie, where intelligence for business has supported the project team in moving in the right direction, using the knowledge and experience in transportation, programme and project management as a solid base to create success.

From January 1st 2007 onwards the new concept will be effective. The full strategy implementation follows according plan. The financial results of the implementation are significant (double digit costs savings) on annual basis and include a higher service delivery performance to Technische Unie clients.
